Meet the owner and artist behind The Art Lounge, Tequila Canty.
Tequila can remember drawing in the early 90s while in elementary school. Redrawing pictures that were printed in coloring books were her favorite past time. As time went on, she drew more and more and received many awards and accolades for her artwork. But, As she entered adulthood drawing was the furthest thing from her mind. In 2009, she graduated from college with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice. She then worked as a Police Dispatcher for 8 years.
While working overnight In 2015, her love for Art and drawing made a return and she also started painting. Shortly after, she was encouraged to start teaching painting classes. So she went to a paint party with her friend and that was all she wrote! In 2016, she started a traveling paint party company called Traveling Art Designs that later changed its name to Artistic Events and Products LLC. She was able to meet tons of amazing people and share her love of Art with them in an entertaining way— everyone loved it!
In 2018, she opened a Paint and Sip Studio called The Art Lounge that was the first of its kind in Richmond’s Eastern Henrico, Virginia. She was able to host public and private paint & sip parties every week, all week until March 2020. In March of 2020, the world shut down due to the corona virus pandemic and so did the studio for 4 months. During that 4month closure, she decided to start offering something she offered in the past….Paint Party Kits!
Tequila’s paint party kits gave her the ability to work solely in her passion of drawing while also incorporating her new found love of paint parties. Not only is she able to share her gift of drawing with the locals, she’s been able to ship these drawings all over the U.S.! Now, others can enjoy hosting parties and creating one of a kind memories with their loved ones too.
